Another Type of Relationship Article

About a year ago, I wrote a blog post about singleness. Typical 2014. As I grew (spiritually, cause I will be 5 feet tall forever) over the year, I had a thought more than once that I would like to share. Ladies and gentlemen, I believed I lied to y'all. I am in fact in a relationship, one that I believe we tend to over look, or take lightly as we say we are in it.

Before you read any further, know that these are my thoughts and opinions on this matter. Feel free to agree or disagree.

I'm in a relationship with Jesus. When you say this, do you mean it, do you feel it? I'm not talking about believing in him, because it is more than that. A relationship is work, and the one you have with Jesus is no different. He pursues us, desires us, listens to us, just outright loves us, and expects that from us as well.

So as this year starts out, I would like to reflect on this. Try not to take this too literal. When someone asks me if i'm single, I do say yes. At the same time, I do tell people that I have a personal relationship with Jesus. What that looks like for me is making sure I spend time with him, pray, worship, read my bible, chat with him, AND take the time to listen to him.

Also, when people are happily in a relationship, they love showing off their significant other. This should also go for Jesus too. You can share stories about how you can always lean on him, about his love for you, and about the times you spend together.

I just want to encourage y'all as the new year starts, start it off by building the right relationships. Relationships take time and effort. It's never a one-way street. What you put into it, is what you get out of it. Now that I've used all the cliches I can think of, I believe I've (hopefully) made my point.

To quote my girl T-Swift, "It's a love story, baby just say YES!" So this year, I'm saying yes. I'm saying yes to him. Every minute, hour and passing day, I'm choosing him. Choosing him means joy, love, and life. That's the kind of relationship I (and I bet all of ya) want. Why wouldn't you want to choose that?

Cheers to another year,
Andee
