The truth about being a Christian
Alright friends, it's time to drop some truth on ya. I hope you're ready..here it comes! Being a Christian is the hardest, freeing, and craziest thing I have ever chosen to do. Still with me? This is going to be one of the most honest blogs I've written to date, and I need y'all to get this.
When I say I am a Christian, that means that Jesus is the most important thing to me. I try to live my life as a reflection of His. No human being is perfect, and I am going to make mistakes, so please do not judge me as I make mine.
That being said: No, I'm not going to judge you if you tell me you're pregnant and not married, living with someone before you're married, have had sex before you're married, if you're gay or a lesbian, if you drink (I happen to like a glass of Moscato here and there), or if you have tattoos (I have 2, and am about to get a 3rd). Judging is not my job. If you feel that way before you have even talked to me, then I sincerely apologize, that was never my intention.
Like I said, judging you is not my job. You know what is? Loving you where you're at in life. That's what Jesus did and continues to do for me, and that is what I will do for you. No matter where you are in life, or what you are doing, I will love you through it. You can call me, text me, FB message me...I will be there to listen, hug you, eat ice cream with you, pray with you and/or for you...whatever you need. THAT is my job.
Another thing: I do not view myself as "better" than you. We are ALL sinners. Our sins may be different, but one is not greater than the other. In the eyes of the Lord, sin is sin. There is no scale with one being heavier than the other. Pain because of our sins my be different, but remember, we do all have a choice.
Lastly, I would love for any of y'all to see what I see every Sunday. Yes, I am excited to go to church on Sundays. Yes, Sundays are my favorite day of the week. Being in the house on Sundays is crucial as a Christian. It's a charge for your week. It's a place to learn and grow, and meet and encourage others to do the same. If any of y'all ever want to see what I see on a Sunday, feel free to check out my home church - True North Church. Our website is truenorth.cc - we'd love to have you no matter who you are, what your past is, or where you're at currently. Come as you are. My pastor put it this way, "We are jacked up people, loving and serving a perfect God". Never forget that. It isn't easy, but it IS worth it. Love y'all!
